Bengaluru-based sports tech platform str8bat has raised $3.5 million (about Rs 29.4 crore) in a Series A funding round led by Exfinity Venture Partners, with participation from TRTL, Eternal Capital, VCats Group, and existing investors Techstars and SucSEED Indovation Fund.

This new capital infusion will be directed towards advancing training and performance tracking for athletes, particularly cricketers. str8bat, founded in 2017 by Gagan Daga, Rahul Nagar, and Madhusudan R, develops sensor-based wearables for cricket, an increasingly popular segment in India’s growing sportstech sector.

The platform uses an AI engine to analyze a batsman’s stance, shot type, and movement, providing detailed feedback that can be used by players and coaches. Notably, str8bat has collaborated with top cricket entities, including Rajasthan Royals, Cricket Australia, and SG Cricket, to launch the “world’s first smart willow”—an IoT-enabled cricket bat that tracks shot data without needing cameras. This innovation gives both amateur and professional players actionable insights and personalized performance recommendations.

str8bat has logged millions of cricket shots on its platform, serving 400 elite players and aiming to reach one million players in the next five years. As cricket continues to be a massive part of India’s sporting culture, str8bat’s cutting-edge tech could change the way players at all levels—whether in domestic circuits like the Ranji Trophy or grassroots training academies—fine-tune their game.

In India’s emerging sportstech market, str8bat joins other platforms like Rooter, SportJacks, and KheloMore, which aim to integrate sports with tech-driven solutions to enhance performance and engagement.
